Tutorial: Import Worksets

This tutorial provides information for the Import Workset toolset.

Import Worksets (part 1: Zotero and Flamenco)

This part of the tutorial illustrates the use of Zotero to imports works from Flamenco into MONK.


  1. The Import Workset toolset allows you to import Zotero collections into MONK.

    If you have not already done so, install Zotero. http://www.zotero.org

    You will also need to install the MONK Project plug-in for Zotero. (The plug-in will not work with Firefox 2, make sure you have firefox version 3.0.)

    You can download the add-on and then drag it to your Add-On panel in Firefox.

    Once you install the plugin, restart the browser. "MONK" will appear around the bottom right corner of the browser.

  2. Go to the Flamenco Site that hosts the public MONK texts http://monk.lis.uiuc.edu/cgi-bin/flamenco.cgi/monkpub/Flamenco

  3. After completing searches in Flamenco, create a Zotero collection by clicking on the folder icon in the url navigation bar.

    You get the option to select some or all of the works. Make your selection and click the OK button.

    Open the Zotero plug-in by clicking on the link in the bottom right corner of the browser.



  4. Your selected works are displayed in the Zotero library.

  5. Create a new folder and move your selected works in that folder.


    6. Import Worksets (part 2: Zotero and Falmenco)

    This part of the tutorial illustrates the use of the Import Workset tool to import works into your MONK project.

  6. Go to the MONK workbench and select Import Workset.

  7. The list of Zotero collections show in the Import tool on the left.

    Click the Import MONK works button to import the items from Zotero.

    The results are displayed on the right in the Workset Selection tool, along with the a save dialogbox where you can type the name of the workset to save the works to the workset.

  8. Select the works press save button. You can add the works to an existing Workset or save them as a new Workset.

  9. The new Workset should appear under the Worksets section of the main project window.

Browse Works

  1. This toolstep allows users to browse through the works. Click on the work titles in the Work Selection Tool on the left and the document would be displayed in the Advanced Viewer on the right.
